One thing I love about traveling is street food. I don’t always have it but when I do, I usually enjoy it just as much as, if not more than, restaurant food. Well, I’m not sure if this counts as street food but it’s pretty darn close. And it was pretty darn delicious too.
Kenzo Grill House is one of the many tavernas that line Perissa Beach, Santorini’s popular black sand beach. It’s also home to a wide assortment of food, including omelettes, gyros and souvlaki. For those who are really hungry, you can enjoy all three (like the boys sitting at the table next to us). As for my parents and me, we decided to stick with the gyros and souvlaki. My parents got the gyros — one chicken and one pork, both with fries — and I got the souvlaki chicken with fries.
Let me tell you… these sandwiches were fantastic. The pita bread was grilled to perfection and the meat was flavorful and juicy (I hate saying the word “moist”) and just generally fabulous. In fact, my parents and I ended up at a gyro and souvlaki place in Fira the day after visiting Kenzo and, despite being told this place was the best place in Fira, we were unimpressed with what we had after our fantastic lunch at Kenzo Grill House. If you happen to be in the Perissa area, I highly recommend Kenzo. It’s “street food” and then some.
